Low-carbohydrate diets have come under fire recently in-the-media and by health organizations,despite their enormous popularity and their methods being founded by physicians. Dr. Atkins of the Atkins Diet, Dr. Marshall Stamper of the Lindora Clinics Lean For Life Program and husband and wife team Dr.Rachel Heller and Dr. Richard Heller authors of The Carbohydrate Addicts Diet, all contend that the current trend of carbohydrate over-consumption has created the fattest people on Earth.

All food eventually breaks down into carbohydrate units. Low-Carbohydrate diets advocate the reduction of 'energy-units', aka carbohydrates. People have reported great success with this form of dieting. However,it appears to be challenging to maintain a low-carbohydrate lifestyle with the prepared,fast-food pace Americans have grown accustomed to.
